How do you determine academic success within an athletic department? The number of athletes that win academic awards among their peers is a good way to start.
The Texas Longhorns, a client of Game Theory Group, have placed 71 student-athletes Academic All-Big 12 Rookie Team, the league announced last week. The Honor roll recognizes first-time/incoming freshman that complete 24 semester hours of non-remedial coursework and achieve a cumulative GPA of at least 3.00.
For student-athletes, getting started strong academically is a key step in setting the tone for an entire college career, so this is great news for GTG’s client.
Texas led all Big 12 with the 71 selections, while Oklahoma (69), Baylor (50), Kansas (50) and Oklahoma State (40) each were represented with at least 40 or more student-athletes.
