Over the past few months, GTG has been lucky enough to be profiled by a number of media outlets – Forbes, SportsTechie and Sporting News to name a few. We are appreciative and humbled to see industry leaders embrace the work we are so passionate about.
This week, the NCAA Convention is happening, and a quote from Oliver Luck really struck a chord with us:
“The student-athlete is the sun around which all other planets rotate.” (Check out the full video below).
If you’ve heard me address any variety of groups in a leadership session, you’ve heard me say “We all have the same jobs…boys to men; girls to women.” Growth and development are at the heart of college athletics.
We must acknowledge that this is all a great, big process. Our process is a coherent way of doing things within all phases of a college athletic department with “student-athlete development” being a core value that is seen throughout. Results are important, but they are not our end. We won’t truly know our “success” until these student-athletes are 20 years out of school.
Moving from results to process is our focus in college athletics and education will also help move the target from “graduation” to the identification of a career of significance. The APR is great, but it’s not a number that helps in the long run.
The future of the student-athlete is our vision and priority, not simply the result of graduation.
