Game Plan is proud to announce the latest addition to its roster of athletic organization partners, the University of Maine.
As a member of the America East, Hockey East, and the Colonial Athletic Conference forFootball, the Black Bears feature 17 Division I athletic programs. While academics have always been a high priority for the Black Bears, who have posted over a 3.0 all sport grade point average for the last 14 years, Student-Athlete Development is also an important aspect of the Black Bears academic, athletic and life journey.
Last year, the Office of Academic Support for Student-Athletes, launched BluePrints, a still developing program, that encourages the students to prepare now for their life after college. By partnering with Game Plan, they are hoping to have an even bigger lasting impact on the students. A semester-by-semester plan will be used as each student-athlete will be tasked to complete goals that fit their current status.
“As we strive to support our students to be successful in their sport and academics through to graduation, it is when the student recognizes that understanding their personal interests and strengths can lead to personal and professional fulfillment and success,” said Ann Maxim, Director of Academic Support Services for Student-Athletes. “Incorporating Game Plan into our conversations and support structure will help to lay a strong foundation for the student’s college years and beyond. Knowing the emerging trends in the workforce, a determined focus on developing transferable and marketable skills, and connecting to potential employers are a few of the ways Game Plan will help us prepare our graduates as leaders of tomorrow.”
By implementing the Game Plan platform, UMaine student-athletes will have access to over 60 innovative eLearning and personality assessments specifically designed for the modern athlete. Game Plan’s Career Marketplace will also allow Black Bear student-athletes to take advantage of national job and internship opportunities. UMaine Administrators will now have management capabilities to track and evaluate student-athletes throughout all activities across their journey to a successful life after sport.
