AUSTIN, Texas — Intercollegiate Athletics at The University of Texas has reached an agreement with Game Plan platform to provide additional tools in its student development programming. A Greenville, N.C.-based company, Game Plan software helps athletics departments deliver enhanced and customized career development services, online education and mentorship frameworks to student-athletes as a key component of their collegiate experience.
Working with Senior Associate Athletics Director Dr. LaToya Smith and her Texas Athletics Student Services team, Game Plan provides Longhorn student-athletes with a comprehensive online platform and tools for advancing their personal and professional development.
“The Longhorns have long been ahead of the pack in terms of supporting their student-athletes and enhancing their development on and off the field,” said Vin McCaffrey, Game Plan CEO. “We are excited to partner with Texas to complement their outstanding student-athlete development initiatives and provide a comprehensive platform for them to manage their programming.”
Through the Game Plan platform, student-athletes in the Longhorns’ 20 sports programs will have access to a wide array of eLearning courses covering such topics as personal finance, social media awareness, interview preparation, career planning and healthy relationships.
“Student-athletes are among the most coveted pool of talent in the country,” said Dr. Smith. “With Game Plan, our student-athletes are able to manage relationships with employers, sponsors and organizational leaders who are eager to recruit the next generation of business, nonprofit and public leaders.”
In addition to the eLearning courses, student-athletes may utilize Game Plan proprietary personality assessments designed to help them understand their identities as students and as athletes and to use that information to make decisions about their education and careers.
The University of Texas has nearly 600,000 living alumni, many of whom are global, national and regional economic contributors and influencers. Game Plan programming emphasizes the value of positive mentorship, and having the opportunity to tap into such an elite network of Texas Exes – including former letterwinners and athletics team members – is a valued element of Game Plan. Within this program, student-athletes are able to manage and foster new relationships between alumni and student-athletes through a single platform.
