Today, Game Plan announced an educational collaboration with RISE (Ross Initiative in Sports for Equality), a national nonprofit that educates and empowers the sports community to eliminate racial discrimination, champion social justice and improve race relations.
Through this innovative new collaboration, RISE and Game Plan will team up to fulfill RISE’s mission, inspiring leaders in sports to create positive change on matters of race and equality.
RISE empowers athletes and the sports community at all levels to be leaders in addressing racism and championing social justice. RISE’s dynamic, interactive curriculum increases understanding of racial equity and builds cultural competence. It equips professional, collegiate and school-aged athletes, coaches and sports administrators with the tools to tackle matters of prejudice, diversity and inclusion.
“Athletes can provide an essential influence to improve racial equity in our country with their ability to be leaders, to rise above societal differences and bring people together,” said RISE CEO Diahann Billings-Burford. “We’re excited to work with Game Plan to engage even more athletes and sports leaders to fulfill our mission to create a nation unified through sports committed to racial equity and social justice.”
For Game Plan, this new collaboration enhances its ability to provide world-class resources to its customers and the athletes they serve. Game Plan now provides mobile-first, educational resources to its customers to educate athletes on healthy relationships, diversity and inclusion, athletic identity, life after sport, career development, sports wagering, academic success, and now, race and equality.
Game Plan’s founder and CEO is particularly proud of what’s planned with RISE.
“When I was 12 years old, the same age as our son, I was first introduced to the Sonny Hill League in Philadelphia. As a white player on a predominantly black team, I was embraced by three black coaches, one of which, Tee Shields, to this day remains one of my personal inspirations. Sport is in many ways the best medium to teach each other respect, to embrace our differences and the power of relationships. Like many other facets of life, I believe sports can lead the way. I have the highest regard for their mission and team.”
Game Plan’s mobile-first eLearning suite provides highly interactive lessons while providing athletics departments the ability to manage, track and measure engagement and learning.
