SAN FRANCISCO – The Pac-12 Conference today announced the league has partnered with Game Plan to develop customized educational and tutorial programs to inform student-athletes, administrators and staffs on how to ensure compliance with both NCAA rules and state and federal law. The partnership with Game Plan—a leader in the space of helping athletics organizations deliver online education to support athletes—is the first among major collegiate conferences involving sports wagering education. Implementation and availability of the educational programs will begin during the 2019-20 academic season.
“Supporting our student-athletes by making sure that they are well informed and resourced, and ensuring the integrity of all our sports, is at the heart of our Conference’s mission,” said Pac-12 General Counsel, Senior Vice President of Business Affairs Woodie Dixon. “Game Plan’s resources will provide a tremendous tool for delivering proper education and information to our student-athletes, university administrators and staffs related to the ever-evolving topic of sports wagering.”
Educational programs for the platform will integrate customized content from the Pac-12 and Pac-12 Networks, designed and produced specifically for student-athletes, administrators and staffs. Among the topics covered in the programs will include information related to legal (state and federal) and NCAA rules and compliance regulations around sports wagering.
“The Pac-12 has taken a leadership position in providing their student-athletes, staff and administration innovative new education related to sports wagering and integrity in sports,” said Game Plan Founder and CEO Vin McCaffrey. “We are proud to partner with the Pac-12 on this outstanding educational initiative.”
Game Plan has worked with over 60 athletics organizations, including the NBA’s G League, as well as Arizona State, Oregon State and Washington. The company’s learning resources will provide student-athletes with the flexibility of completing certain aspects of developmental programs online and in their own time. Resources for the programs will be made available via Game Plan’s online platform as well as via the company’s app for iOS and Android.
