Michigan State Athletics relaunches partnership with Game Plan with a renewed focus as the Virtual Personal Development and Player Development Platform for Spartan student-athletes. Game Plan brings eLearning resources directly to MSU student-athletes. In March, six unique professional development eLearning courses were designed exclusively for Spartan football and men’s basketball. Game Plan’s eLearning development team worked closely with Michigan State Player Development staff to merge content, imagery, graphics, and video footage into eLearning courses that focus on topics such as resume building, networking, life after sport and more. These eLearning courses are designed to meet Michigan State athletes where they are while featuring learner interactions, video, quiz questions, and other interactive features designed to improve engagement and content retention. April also saw the addition of an eLearning curriculum for all student-athletes surrounding student-athlete identity, nutrition, mental health and more.

“Our renewed partnership with Game Plan has been a game changer. We are always exploring ways to offer cutting edge resources. The creation of MSU branded eLearning courses is innovative and keeps our football and men’s basketball student-athletes engaged at a high level while the addition of the eLearning curriculum will change the way we deliver programming to our student-athletes.”

-Elliott Daniels, Associate AD for Student-Athlete Engagement

Through Game Plan Michigan State football and men’s basketball student-athletes will have the ability to access these interactive eLearning courses on or off campus. The Spartans focused on one eLearning per week throughout the months of March and April. Under the guidance of Player Development staff, one course per week is introduced to football and men’s basketball teams allowing each student-athlete to focus on a specific skill while staff track their progress. Making these courses available through Game Plan has given student-athletes the opportunity to learn life changing skills all from their mobile device.

“At Michigan State University, we are committed to building our student-athletes’ skills whether on campus or away. Game Plan’s curriculum assists our Player Development staff by offering innovative eLearning resources for student-athletes at any level. Providing these resources virtually have allowed our staff to track their progress while our student-athletes develop life-long skills to be the best versions of themselves.”

Lorenzo Guess, Director of Player Enrichment, MSU Football

“The project started well before the virus breakout and we always felt it was innovative to design courses unique to State’s football and basketball player development programs. Given where we are now, Michigan State has set a benchmark for new ways to engage, track and measure player development in college athletics.”

-Vin McCaffrey, Founder & CEO, Game Plan

In the next few months, Michigan State will augment their eLearning offerings to their student-athletes by adding Game Plan courses on diversity & inclusion, life after sport and more to the Michigan State-specific eLearnings.
