Ashland University announced on Monday (Dec. 14) a new partnership with Game Plan, the most widely used education and student-athlete development platform for high school, collegiate and professional athletic departments, to provide student-athletes with modules that will assist their professional and personal growth.
Game Plan is a learning management system that provides eLearning courses that will help in the development of the whole student-athlete, including in the areas of life skills, sexual violence protection and healthy relationships, inclusion and cultural competency, mental health, health and nutrition, financial education, mentorship and several others.
“Game Plan comes highly recommended. The athletic directors I’ve talked to rave about what it’s meant for their student-athletes and coaches,” said AU athletic director Al King. “We’ve been looking for some time to find the best educational packet and Game Plan is the clear choice. Adding Game Plan, along with the programming our athletic department has started in the last semester, is going to open avenues we haven’t had for our student-athletes in the past. I’m excited about the potential Game Plan brings and I look forward to getting started with it.”
Game Plan offers 134 courses in total that will allow the athletic department to provide educational opportunities that have not been available in the past. Student-athletes will have easy access to the courses online or via Game Plan’s mobile app.
A portion of the funding was provided through a grant from the Great Midwest Athletic Conference, which Ashland will officially join on July 1, 2021.
Earlier this academic year, the AU athletic department launched two committees comprised of student-athletes. AU IDEAL advocates for inclusion, diversity, equity, access and leadership in within AU teams and the athletic department and the AU women’s advisory council which provides leadership and mentorship opportunities for female student-athletes.
